Brief summary of research over the last five years

The common theme of my research activities over the last years has been the development of design methodologies and proof of concepts of low-power analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits for wearable, injectable and implantable biomedical devices and RF and UWB communications. Under this theme various specific projects have been or are still being carried out under my direct supervision and leadership. For my contributions to integrated circuits for medical devices and wireless communications, I have been awarded the IEEE Fellow grade, effective January 1, 2011.

From a thematic prespective, my group aims to provide the technology for the successful monitoring, diagnosis and treatment of cortical, neural, cardiac and muscular disorders by means of electroceuticals. To this end, we work on bio-inspired electronics, biosignal conditioning / detection, neuroprosthetics, transcutaneous wireless communication, power management and energy harvesting.

Apart from these projects, I have done a lot of work on broadband, low-voltage and ultra low-power circuit techniques in general.
